Pedro Ruiz
Artwork Description
PEDRO RUIZ Colombia, 1957 Pedro Ruiz's work addresses social and political issues that impact countries globally. Nature, as a force we cannot control but must live in harmony with, is central to his art. Ruiz has developed four key series: Love is in the Air, Displacements, Gold, and Colombianas Light. Ruiz is one of Colombia’s most important artists, honored by the French Government with the Order of the Arts and Letters and serving as a UNICEF Ambassador for his dedication to social causes. Through his art, he poetically and aesthetically tackles issues like social displacement, the environmental impact of drug crop spraying, destructive mining by multinationals, and the contrasts between urban and rural life. Ruiz works through projects, blending his strong academic foundation with innovative approaches. This combination has made him one of Latin America's rising stars. His project Gold: A Spirit of Nature and Territory has toured internationally, leaving a profound impact on audiences and art communities worldwide.
