 Pablo Arrázola (Colombia, 1991) explores the expressive possibilities of line, texture, and gesture in space through his hyperrealist depictions of children. His works go beyond traditional drawing, transforming the vast white paper into a poetic, sculptural medium with a minimalist tone. While Arrázola's detailed compositions evoke a longing for an idealized childhood, they also open up existential narratives, inviting viewers to contemplate the silence of the empty spaces and the intricate marks left behind. His art oscillates between precision and playfulness, creating alternative worlds where memory and infinity converge. Over time, his affinity for dry media drawing has grown more experimental and philosophical. Once focused on technically masterful portraits of children, his work now gives greater prominence to negative space, incorporating cuts, folds, perforations, and textures. Although the children have become smaller in scale, they subtly manipulate their surroundings, embodying innocence and curiosity. Arrázola’s work is an open metaphor for life’s passage, resonating with empathy, nostalgia, and warmth.
