Susan Weil
Artwork Description
Even at 95 years old, Susan Weil’s creative drive remains relentless. An alumna of Black Mountain College where she studied under Josef Albers, her oeuvre spans eight decades, and she’s posessed a radical sense of experimentation from the very start. Weil’s practice has always oscillated between abstraction and representation, and included in this presentation is a stellar example of one of her recent non-objective paintings. The form and luminescent, iridescent paint echoes back to other works she has made throughout the decades in reference to the moon, a recurring fascination for Weil, both for its connection to nature and to the passing of time.
